Macbook Firmware Update

” Apple has released the MacBook SMC Firmware Update via Mac OS X’s Software Update Utility and on the Web. The System Management Controller (SMC) is a chip on the logic board of Intel-based Macs that controls several functions, including: telling the computer when to turn on, turn off, sleep, wake, idle, and so forth; handling system resets from various commands; and controlling the fans. According to Apple, this MacBook SMC Firmware Update adjusts fan behavior.”

Pleased to anounce that after I installed the update (which only takes about 5 minutes of your time including the restart) my MacBook is running about 15 dgrees F cooler. Now the fan runs constantly at low RPM and is barely audible even in a silent room.

I highly recomend all Macbook owners installing this update ASAP.
