Some of the new changes:
- The main image window is always displayed at startup, even when no image is loaded. This is Gimp’s application window now, containing the menu items that were once in the toolbox. When there’s no image to show, a top of the day is shown in the area.
- The toolbox is now just a regular floating window, similar to the stylist in OpenOffice. It doesn’t have any menus, these are moved to the main image window. Like all other floating menus, it now won’t show up in the taskbar.
